This course takes a philosophical approach to expand your understanding of the endless variations you can use in the terrain to maximize the fun-meter in minimize physical output.
We will focus on “working the terrain” while striving to reach a flow-state, avoiding linear up’s & down’s on a single slope.
We’ll focus on efficient terrain movement, saving energy & try to ski more vert than you thought you could in one day!
At GMG, we understand the infinite possibility of drawing your own path through the mountains instead of going up and down one slope multiple times. You don’t have to be in magazine worthy terrain to put an epic ski tour together. You just have to think outside the box.

Equip participants with advanced ski mountaineering techniques, focusing on efficient movement through varied terrain and conditions.Creativity in Motion

Course Outcomes:
Competence in Techniques
Participants will demonstrate proficiency in advanced ski mountaineering techniques, including downhill skiing, climbing with alpine touring bindings, and glacier travel.Increased Creativity
Attendees will be able to express their personal movement style confidently, adapting their skiing techniques to the terrain, environment and conditions encountered.
Note: This course aims to not only elevate the technical skills of participants but also enrich their overall experience in ski mountaineering through creative exploration and team collaboration, ensuring they are well-prepared for future adventures in the mountains.

7:30am: Meet your guide at the designated trail head. Go through introductions and the plan for the day.
8:00am: Begin touring and dive into topics related tho the course. Continue skiing and using spacific talking points throughout the entire day.
12:00pm: Sit down for lunch. Refuel for the second half of the day.
3:45: Arrive back at the trailhead. Do a formal debrief and say our goodbyes.

This is an intermediate/advanced backcountry ski program and should not be taken if you DO NOT possess the following:
A Backcountry Ski or Splitboard Setup.
Avalanche Safety Equipment
AIARE Level 1 or Higher
Minimum of 15 Ski Tours
Other requirements:
Solid baseline cardio.
Solid fitness & endurance levels.
Should be able to cover a minimum of 3,000 vertical feet over the duration of the day.
Effectively communicate and articulate thoughts & ideas to members of the group.

Applicable recreation and/or forest service permits.

Waste Disposal Bags in compliance with “Leave No Trace” principles.
